Explosion in Narayanganj house, burnt 6
Six members of the same family have been burnt in an explosion at house in Narayanganj. Belal Hossain, station officer of Mandalpara Fire Service said the incident took place at around 12:30 am on Monday in a flat of a six-storey building in Patenga of West Masdai in Narayanganj town.
The blast shattered the window glass of the flat and burned the furniture. The burn victims have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
They are- garment factory workers. Mishal (28), his wife Mita Begum (23), their daughter Afsana Akhter (4), one and a half year old son Minhaj, Mishal's two brothers-in-law hosiery worker Md. Mahfuz (24) and Sabbir Hossain (15).
Fire Service Officer Belal said, “Initially, it seems that gas leaked from the cylinder and accumulated in the flat. Someone might light a fire to light a cigarette or a coil, and the gas in it would explode. ”
Upon receiving the news of the explosion and fire, two units of Mandalpara Fire Station went to the spot, but before that the locals put out the fire. Belal said the cause of the fire accident was being investigated and an investigation was underway to determine the damage.
After visiting the spot, Fatullah Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shafiqul Islam said the doors and windows of three rooms of the flat were broken in the blast and all the furniture was burnt.
Asaduzzaman, a resident medical officer at Narayanganj General Hospital (Victoria), said 50 per cent of Minhaj's body, 20 per cent of Afsana Akter's and 10 per cent of Mita Begum's body were burnt in the fire.
