Executioner Shah Jahan is dead
Shahjahan Bhuiyan, the 'executioner' who executed 26 convicts sentenced to death in various cases, has passed away (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihir Rajiun).
He died while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on Monday (June 24).
Sub-Inspector (SI) Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station of DMP's Tejgaon zone Moshiur Azam confirmed his death.
Moshiur Azam said, 'Shahjahan used to live in a rented house in Jadurchar area of Hemayetpur, Savar. He was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka when chest pain started around 3:30 pm on Sunday. He died while undergoing treatment there.'
It is known that he died around 5:30 am on Monday. His sister Firoza received the body at the hospital. After the legal proceedings, Shah Jahan's body will be buried in Ichakhali village of Palash upazila of Narsingdi.
Earlier, Shahjahan Bhuiyan, accused in 36 cases, was released on June 18 last year after serving 32 years in prison. Shah Jahan went from being a prisoner to an executioner by executing one criminal after another in the desire to reduce the term of the sentence.
