Bangladesh and Uzbekistan have discussed the involvement of “Uztekstilprom” in the upcoming third Joint Working Commission (JWC) meeting between the two countries to expand ties in new areas.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Md Zahangir Alam had a meeting with Ilkhom Khaidarov Utkurovich, former Ambassador and Chairman (with the status of a Cabinet Minister) of the government organization “Uztekstilprom”, Association of Enterprises of the Textiles of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the Association office on Tuesday. During the meeting, both sides discussed the involvement of “Uztekstilprom” in the upcoming JWC meeting, said the Bangladesh Embassy on Wednesday.
The two countries want to expand relations in the textile sector, leather products as well as jute industry, collaboration in the field of IT and software products and services related to the textile industry, availing opportunities being provided in Free Economic Zones of Uzbekistan.
Bangladesh sought investment in Economic Zones during the meeting and laid emphasis on the exchange of educational, research and training programmes related to textiles especially textile engineering and opening a branch of the Bangladesh University of Textiles in Tashkent.
Ilkhom Khaidarov assured Bangladesh Ambassador to share detailed information on all opportunities/facilities for investors and ensure land free of cost and banking support for Bangladesh investors/entrepreneurs by sending a formal letter to Bangladesh Embassy.
DCM and Minister of Bangladesh Embassy Nripendra Chandra Debnath along with HR Director, Director for Logistics and Foreign Relations Director of the Association were present during the meeting.
