Covid deaths, infections upswing again
Bangladesh on Friday logged 31 more Covid deaths and 1,358 infections in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00 am. The latest figures took the overall death caused by the viral disease to 12,511 and the total number of infections to 796,343.
A Director General of Health Services release confirmed it. Both the death and infections on Friday are higher than that of Thursday, 22 deaths and 1,292 contacts.
Of the deceased, 18 are male and 13 female patients. Of them, 26 died at government and four at private hospitals. One patient died at residence.
The daily update shows that 13 of the deceased were aged above 60 years, seven aged between 51 and 60 years, five between 41 and 50 years, four between 31 and 40 years, and one each aged between 11 to 20 years and 0 to 10 years.
A total of 14,606 people had their samples tested in the timeline, said the release. Bangladesh had tested a total of 59,01,874 specimens as of May 28.
During the timeline, a total of 1,064 people recovered from the diseases. As of, May 28, the number of recovered people hit 736,221. Bangladesh officially announced the first Covid infection on March 8 and the first death from the viral disease on March 18.
