Couple, son killed in Sylhet landslide
The bodies of three people who went missing after a hillock collapsed in Chamelibagh residential area of Sylhet Nagar Ward No. 35 were recovered.
The deceased are - Aga Abdul Karim, 31, his wife Ruji Begum, 25, and their two-year-old son Tanim.
The bodies were recovered around 1.30 pm on Monday (June 10) by a team of Bangladesh Army.
Indranil Bhattacharya, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Shahparan (R) police station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police confirmed the matter.
The bodies were sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, he said.
According to locals, since Saturday (June 8), it was raining heavily in Sylhet. In this situation, the soil of the hill becomes soft. In the early hours of Monday (June 10), a hill in Majortila Chamelibagh collapsed and fell on neighbouring houses.
In this incident, 10 members of the same family were crushed to the ground, and the locals immediately rescued five and two injured people and rushed them to Osmani Medical College Hospital, said locals.
