Clashes centered on UP elections in Shibchar: one killed

A man named Elias Dhali (40) was killed in a clash between supporters of two chairman candidates in Madaripur's Shibchar over the UP election. Five people were injured in the incident. The clash took place in Ward 6 of Kadirpur Union of the upazila on Wednesday evening.

The deceased Elias Dhali used to sell fruits in Dhaka. He is the son of Yunus Dhali of Char village in Degree of Kadirpur union.

Injured in the incident, said. Mojibur Rahman alias Khalil Mollah (45), Md. Rubel Mollah (35), Mojibur Dhali (28), Mozina Begum (22). They were admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Shibchar police said one person was killed and five others were injured in clashes between the two parties over the Kadirpur UP election.

Injured Mojibur Rahman and his nephew were admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex by family members. Nephew Md. Rubel Mollah was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment as his head injury was serious.

Meanwhile, three of Munshi's associates were injured in the incident. Among the injured, Ilyas Dhali died on the way to Madaripur when his condition was critical.

Shibchar police officer in charge (OC) Miraj Hossain said, "I have sent police to Shibchar Upazila Hospital and the spot after receiving the news of the clash." Appropriate action will be taken after investigation. So far no one has filed a case in this regard.
