Chhatra League in control of DU campus after defeating quota opponents


Chhatra League has taken control of the campus of Dhaka University (DU) after removing the protesting students demanding quota reform. They took control of the campus on Monday (July 15) around 4:30 pm.

Earlier, at around 3 pm, Chhatra League activists attacked the protesting students in the hall adjacent to DU's Vijay Ekatar Hall. At one point, BCL leaders and activists beat and dispersed the anti-quota activists and took control of the campus. Many people including media workers were injured. The injured are being treated at Dhaka Medical.

Earlier, the movement started for the second day demanding the withdrawal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's statement on 'Muktijoddha quota' in government jobs. At that time, ordinary students of Dhaka University, Bangladesh University of Engineering, Jagannath University, Dhaka College, Eden College gathered at the foot of the Raju sculpture of Dhaka University and held a protest rally.

The agitating students started the protest march from the foot of the Raju sculpture of Dhaka University. The procession circumambulates the important places of the campus and again meets in a rally at the foot of the Raju sculpture.

Incidentally, in response to a journalist's question at a press conference on Sunday (July 14), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, 'Why is there so much anger against the liberation war and freedom fighters? The grandchildren of the freedom fighters will not get? So will Razakar's grandchildren get? My question is to the countrymen.'
