'Challenging to save my father's killers'
MP Anwarul Azim Anar's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen claimed that there is lobbying from many places to save my father's killers.
He made this demand in front of reporters after meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 12).
Doreen said, "I have heard that there is a lot of lobbying to save the criminals." Efforts are being made to release them. I have demanded that no attempt be made to stop the trial of this murder under the pressure of any lobbying, and that the proper investigation should not be stopped under pressure. May I get a fair trial. That's what I said.
Anar's daughter also said that many people have already been detained for questioning on suspicion of involvement in this murder. There is lobbying from many quarters to save the criminals. Let them be released.
He said that one person named Geas Babu has been arrested. But he is not an opponent of father. He has no enmity with us. Many questions arise in my mind. I met him in Banga on 17th of last month. There's a payoff transaction, which I heard on the news. My point is, who is the supplier of this money? Why did they do it? You have seen that before arresting him, he gave a complaint to the police station that his three phones were lost. My question is how can a person lose three phones on the same day. These are planned, he is not my father's enemy. I have repeatedly said who is doing these things.
Doreen said, the Home Minister has assured me that the law and justice will proceed at their own pace. Criminals will not pass. I believe that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not give the criminals a discount.
Meanwhile, new information is emerging about the killing of MP Anwarul Azim Anna. Early in the investigation, it emerged that the murders might have been due to smuggling. But now it has turned towards politics. The family of the deceased also claimed that the murder was caused by a political dispute.
District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Kamal Gias Babu and some others are suspected. They have already been arrested. Apart from this, some other local political leaders are under intelligence surveillance. They can be arrested at any time subject to evidence.
It should be noted that Annar, a three-time member of parliament of Jhenaidah-4 constituency, is the president of Kaliganj Upazila Awami League. On May 11, he went to India for treatment. First, he stayed at the house of his friend gold merchant Gopal Biswas in Barahnagar, Kolkata. But disappeared from there. After that, Gopal Biswas filed a GD at the local police station. Investigations began in both countries. On the morning of May 22, news came in the Indian media - MP Annar was murdered in a house in Newtown. After that, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the killing by quoting the Indian police.
