Bus helper died, 4 injured in bus-truck collision
One person has died in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Osmaninagar, Sylhet. Four others were injured in the incident. The incident took place at Goalabazar on the highway around 12:30 pm on Monday.
The deceased was working as an assistant to a bus driver named Green Line Transport. He is about 35 years old. However, the police could not reveal his name till Tuesday morning.
According to police and local sources, a Green Line bus from Dhaka collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction when it reached Goalabazar area. The bus driver's assistant was seriously injured. Four other passengers of the bus were also injured. After rescuing them with the help of locals, they were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College. The on-duty doctor declared the bus driver's assistant dead.
Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was stopped after the accident. After receiving the news, Osmaninagar police and Sherpur Highway police went to the spot and recovered two vehicles. Later the traffic on the road became normal.
Sherpur Highway Police Officer in Charge. Amir Uddin said the body of the deceased has been kept in the morgue of the hospital. No one has filed a case in this incident. Three of the injured have returned home and one is being treated at a hospital.
