Boro cultivation exceeds target in Narsingdi
Cultivation of Boro paddy has completed in all the six Upazilas of Narsingdi district. The farmers of the district have finally cultivated Boro in 55318 hectares against the target of 55300 hectares this season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official sources said, of the total targeted lands, the farmers have cultivated 529 hectors of land under Hybrid variety of paddy, 54439 hectors of land under High yielding variety of the Boro paddy, and 350 hectors land under local variety, reports BSS.
The crop fields are now in deep greener eye-catching looks everywhere as the Boro plants are growing excellent. The enthusiastic farmers have engaged in all-out efforts in making the Boro program successful. They hope for increasing the overall rice production in the district.
Deputy Director of DAE, Narsingdi, Shovah Kumar Dhar told BSS that the Boro cultivation has exceeded the target. The farmers have brought additional 18 hectares of the total targeted land.
He said Government has been provided quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides,s, and agri-loans to the farmers for making the Boro cultivation program successful.
The Deputy Director also said if the climate condition has remained favorable up to the harvesting period the target of production 225000 tons of Boro rice must be exceeded in the district.
