The first special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore at 8:13 am on Tuesday with 106 migrant workers.
"Biman will operate special flights to Singapore three days a week - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday," Biman Bangladesh Airlines Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khandaker told Prothom Alo, adding, "All those who will board the flights are stranded expatriate workers."
According to the Civil Aviation Authority and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started special international flights from Saturday to send the expatriate workers to their respective workplaces. Although more than half of the flights were cancelled on the first day due to various complications, no flights were cancelled in the last two days; rather the number has tripled. Saudi Airlines has also increased their number of flights.

The Airport and airline officials said, about 3,500 migrant workers went back to their workplaces yesterday. A total of 16 flights left the capital by 8 pm last night. Of these, Bangladesh Biman and Saudi Airlines had three flights each to Saudi Arabia.
