Biman launches flights on Dhaka-Guangzhou route

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started operating passenger flights on the Dhaka-Guangzhou-Dhaka route. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali inaugurated the flight operation of the national flag carrier at a function at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Thursday, said an official handout.

A Biman flight BG-366 with 117 passengers took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11am and was scheduled to land in China’s Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport around 4.45pm.

The returning flight from Guangzhou was scheduled to take off at 7:45pm and reach here at 9.30pm.

The passengers will be able to collect tickets from Biman’s sales offices and website www.biman-airlines.com and approved travel agencies.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahbub said the flights on the Dhaka-Guangzhou-Dhaka route will reduce the problem of Bangladeshi students and businessmen traveling to China.

Noting that the flight frequency will increase in near future, he said apart from boosting the trade and communication between the two countries, the route will become one of the most profitable routes for aviation.

The national flag carrier is marching forward with a specific target and the financial condition of the Biman is now well, he said, adding, “We hope it will secure better position in the days coming ahead since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sincere about Biman’s development”.
