BCB announces women’s squads, schedule for domestic extravaganza
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced Women’s squads along with its full-fledged schedule for the upcoming 9th edition of the domestic extravaganza ‘Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Games 2021’. Cricket has been added to the Bangladesh Games for the first time after which Bangladesh women’s cricket team will get the chance to play in the biggest event of the country. The women’s cricketers will play four matches, divided into 3 teams- Bangladesh Red, Bangladesh Green and Bangladesh Blue.
The event will kick-start from March 6 and will continue till March 12. All the matches of the cricket tournament of the Games will be held at the picturesque Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) in the tea garden-girt city. Each team will play two matches against each other in the tournament for which the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced a squad of 15 cricketers for each team.
Apart from the women cricketers of the national team, the cricketers of the under-19 teams are also due to participate in the largest domestic league. The BCB has also provided three separate coaching staff for the three teams.
Faisal Hossain Dickens, the head coach of the national team, will be in charge of the Bangladesh Red team, whilst former first class cricketer Nasiruddin Farooq will be the assistant coach and Kazi Mashuk Al Bari will play a role for the team as team manager.
Former pace bowler Dipu Rai Chaudhury is in charge of the Bangladesh Green team coupled with Dollar Mahmud will be his assist him as assistant coach and Sarfaraz Newaz as Manager while Bangladesh Blue team will be assisted by Shahnewaz Shahid Shanu with assistant coach AKM Mahmud Emon and Ruhul Amin Manager.
After the end of the Bangladesh Games, Bangladesh Tigresses will step into home series against South Africa women’s emerging team, who are scheduled to visit Bangladesh in April. That is why the cricket event for Bangladesh women cricketers will be held a month ahead in March.
Bangladesh Red team:
Rubia Haider Jhilik, Sharmin Akhter Supta, Nigar Sultana Jyoti (wicket keeper), Lata Mandal, Fahima Khatun, Nahida Akhter, Jinnat Asiya Arthi Suraiya Azmim, Laboni Akhter, Puja Chakraborty, Afia Humaira (U-19) Nahar Choity (U-19), Leki Chakma (under-19), Rabeya Khatun (U-19), Morzina Akter Mim (U-19).
Bangladesh Green team:
Sharmin Sultana, Sanjida Islam, Tumpa Khatun (wicket keeper) Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Sumaiya Akhter, Panna Ghosh, Sanjida Akhter Meghla, Sandhia Islam Asha, Khadija-Tul-Kubra, Mishti Rani Saha (U-19), Jannatul Mahua (U-19). Disha Biswas (U-19), Dilara Akhter Dola (U-19), Marufa Akhter (U-19).
Bangladesh Blue team:
Murshida Khatun, Farzana Haque Pinki, Eka Mallick, Shamima Sultana (wicket keeper), Ishma Tanzim, Salma Khatun, Sobhana Mostari, Jahanara Alam, Mumta Hena Hasnat, Rabeya, Fariha Islam Trishna, Falguni Chowdhury (U-19) Unnati Akhter (U-19), Swarna Akhter (U-19), Riya Akhter Shikha (U-19).

1st match- Red team vs Blue team, March 6, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
2nd match-Green team vs Blue team, March 8, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
3rd match-Red team vs Green team, March 10, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
Final to be held between the top two teams on March 12, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
