Battery-run rickshaw drivers sit with DMP commissioner

A team of 15-20 rickshaw and easy-van drivers has sat with DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad to discuss and resolve the Dhaka-wide chaos centring the ban on battery-run rickshaw and auto-rickshaw.

A team of 15-20 rickshaw and easy-van drivers has sat with DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad to discuss and resolve the Dhaka-wide chaos centring the ban on battery-run rickshaw and auto-rickshaw.

The drivers under the banner of Rickshaw-Van-Easy Bike Sromik Union, led by its President Abdul Hakim Maiz Bhandari, have been attending the meeting that started around 11:15am at the DMP headquarters in Minto road.

Meanwhile, battery-run rickshaw, vans and easy bike drivers blocked Dhaka's Agargaon intersection demanding that the High Court order to stop such vehicles from plying the city streets be withdrawn.

The protest slowed down traffic on both sides of Rokeya Sharani, leading to public sufferings.
