Bashundhara Kings look to confirm Federation Cup final berth
BPL are eyeing to seal their place in the final of the ongoing ABG Bashundhara Federation Cup 2023-24 when they take on Abahani Limited Dhaka in the high-voltage second semifinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj today (May 14).
The match is scheduled to start at 03:00pm (BST) and will be telecast live on T Sports.
Kings confirmed their record-extending fifth league title with three matches to spare on Saturday after beating Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd by 2-1 goals during their 15th match of the ABG Bashundhara BPL 2023-24at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
After winning the BPL title, which also confirms them a spot in the upcoming AFC club competition, Kings are paying their full attention to the Federation Cup as the Bangladesh giants have a dream to end the ongoing season with a domestic treble.
“Our total focus is on the Federation (Cup). The big match is against Abahani (Dhaka) and we need to focus on this match and try to reach the final and to win the three trophies,” Kings captain Robson Robinho said.
The Asian Football Confederation will unveil its new three-tier club competitions after the 34th AFC Congress 2024 on Thursday in Thailand.
Kings earlier also clinched the season’s curtain raiser Independence Cup 2023-24 title before winning the BPL title.
The Bangladesh giants last won the Federation Cup in the 2020-21 season. They didn’t participate in the 2021-22 edition and were knocked down by Mohammedan in the semifinals last year.
The winners of the second semifinal will face Mohammedan in the final on 21 May in Mymensingh.
