Bank officials are again banned from traveling abroad
Bangladesh Bank has once again banned the foreign travel of the officers and employees financed by the bank.
A circular in this regard has been issued by the central bank on Tuesday (June 11).
It is said that the foreign travel of officials and employees will be stopped to participate in training, seminars, workshops, study tours funded by bank companies. However, travel abroad for medical treatment and performing Hajj can be done at one's own expense.
As a result of this new directive, bank officers and employees will not be able to travel abroad, participate in educational programs, participate in seminars and workshops.
However, subject to the approval of the bank's authorities, officials can go for Hajj with their own funds and can go abroad for emergency treatment subject to the recommendation of a specialist doctor.
It is said that the central bank has taken this decision to deal with the dollar crisis. Earlier in 2022, through the issuance of Bangladesh Bank Circular No. 16, it also banned the 'personal' foreign travel of bank officers and employees. However, after a few days, the ban on foreign travel was somewhat relaxed.
After about two years, bankers were again banned from traveling abroad.
