Bangladesh reach 77-2 at lunch
Bangladesh played cautiously to reach 77-2 at lunch on day one of the second cricket Test against West Indies at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia Friday.
It was good start for Bangladesh, considering their familiar top order collapse in the last few matches.
Najmul Hossain Shanto was batting on 16 with Anamul Haque Bijoy who returned to the Test fold after eight years on 5 at the first interval of the day.
Opener Tamim Iqbal gave Bangladesh a good start after the visitors were asked to bat first. But he threw away his wicket again after getting set, as he tried to chase a wide delivery of Alzzari Joseph without moving his feet. Even the commentators were heard to describe his shot as disappointing.
Tamim scored 46 off 67, hitting nine fours. Before his dismissal, opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was out on 10, giving his wicket to debutant Anderson Phillipe.
Joy and Tamim added 41 runs for the opening stand.
Earlier Bangladesh made two changes dropping out of form Mominul Haque and pacer Mustafizur Rahman in favour of Anamul Haque Bijoy and Shoriful Islam.
