Bangladesh ranks top among free Covid-19 vaccines receiver nations
Health Minister Zahid Maleque Tuesday said Bangladesh has ranked at the top of the Covid-19 vaccine receiving countries from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Bangladesh is at the number one among the nations that received free Covid-19 vaccines from the World Health Organization (WHO) . . . The cost of the vaccines are estimated to be Taka 20 crore,” he said this while exchanging Eid greetings with locals at Shubhra Centre in Manikganj Sadar upazila here this afternoon.
The minister added: “They saw that we have the capacity to conduct mass vaccination, and utilize its benefits without wasting vaccines . . . about 75 percent people out of 17 crore population have been vaccinated. ”
Referring to the overall development of the lethal disease Covid-19 pandemic situation, he said the Covid-19 situation in the country did not improve magically rather it had been happened following the time-befitting and relentlessly directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“As a result, we have so far vaccinated 98% of our targeted population. Due to that the country is now doing well," the health minister mentioned.
Noting that the Covid-19 situation is under control here, Zahid said people can now happily enjoy their Eid with near and dear ones through safely journey by buses, trains and launches.
“Eid celebrators could offer Eid prayers in Eid-jamaat (congregations), and visit their relatives," he added.
Manikganj district unit Awami League president and Freedom Fighter Golam Mohiuddin, its general secretary and Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Israfil Hossain and Manikganj poura-mayor Md Ramzan Ali, among others, were present on the occasion.
