Aurthoniti Somity mourns the death of Dr.Shahida Akhtar


Bangladesh Aurthoniti Somity has expressed its condolences over the death of Professor Dr. Shahida Akhtar. She fought against cancer for a long time. Shahida died at her home in the Dhaka University residential area on Fuller Road on Saturday evening. She was 59 years old at the time of his death.

Dr. Shahida was  Professor of Japanese Studies at Dhaka University and founder Chairman Economist. She is Wife of Abul Barkat. The couple has three daughters. They are Avanti, Anokhi and Aroni.

Professor Dr. Shahida Akhtar was a fifth batch student of Sir Salimullah Medical College. She was a life member of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and Bangladesh Pediatric Association (BPA).

Freedom fighter Barkat, known as the economist of the masses, dedicated his latest book 'Padma Bridge, the best opportunity to create national unity with his own funds' (second revised and expanded publication) to his wife. In the dedication letter, Professor Barkat writes, “The source of inspiration for my quest for knowledge is my wife Prof. Dr. To Shahida Akhtar."

In a press release signed by Jamaluddin Ahmed General Secretary of the Bangladesh Aurthoniti Somity said, Professor Dr. The Bangladesh Aurthoniti Somity extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and wishes for the forgiveness of her departed soul.
