Attack on minority part of anti-national conspiracy: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Friday said the attack on the minorities at Shalla in Sunamganj is part of an anti-national conspiracy.

"Today, when the country is moving forward; when foreign heads of state are coming to Bangladesh, they are congratulating on the occasion of Mujib Year and the golden jubilee of independence, new anti-national conspiracies have started," he said.

The minister was addressing a memorial meeting on the occasion of the 8th death anniversary of former President Zillur Rahman at the National Press Club.

Hasan Mahmud said a vested quarter has chosen the path of the conspiracy being unable to deal with the Prime Minister politically.

He claimed that BNP had attacked minorities across the country during their tenure following the 2001 election.

"After the election, villages were cordoned off and minorities were tortured all over the country including Kotalipara, Bhola, Barishal, and Sirajganj," he said.

Zillur Rahman Parishad President MA Karim, General Secretary Md Akhtaruzzaman, and others were present on the occasion.
