Army chief shares Eid joy with personnel at CHT
Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed Sunday shared joy of Eid with army personnel serving duty at different Army camps in remote areas of Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
He visited Pangkhupara Army Camp and Baghaihat Zone Headquarters in Rangamati district and Dighinala Zone Headquarters in Khagrachhari, said an ISPR press release here.
The Army chief shared Eid greetings with Army members. He enquired about overall matters of army personnel serving duty at those camps.
Ahmed also handed over Eid gifts to them. Members of Army also became jubilant at the joyous occasion.
At first, the Army chief visited Pangkhupara Army Camp in Rangamati. From there, he went to Baghaihat Zone Headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, he said members of army are working in remote hills with heavy risk.
“I am feeling myself very lucky and blessed that I can stand beside them on Eid day to boost their morale. Bangladesh Army has been working at home and abroad with reputation,” he said.
The Army chief said he went there as their guardian to meet the army personnel serving duties in the CHT area with life risk staying away from family members on the auspicious day.
He urged the army members to devote themselves keeping intact social and communal harmony with the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha.
Replying to journalists, he said the Army would do everything which is needed for the interest of safeguarding life and property of local people.
Later, he went to Dighinala Zone Headquarters from Baghaihat Zone Headquarters. He joined luncheon with soldiers and officers there.
The GOC of 24th Infantry Division, high officers of army headquarters, other officers of Pangkhupara Army Camp, Baghaihat and Dighinala Zone and journalists of print and electronic media were present on the occasion.
Army chief’s visit to army camps in remote hilly areas on the day of Eid boosted morale of army personnel and other security force members.
Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated at all cantonments including Dhaka with due solemnity and enthusiasm.
The Chief of Army Staff offered Eid prayers at Central Mosque of Dhaka Cantonment and exchanged Eid greetings with army officers at all levels, JCOs and other ranked soldiers.
