Armless Bengalis get armed
Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary and Minister for Information Dr. Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said armless Bengalees turned to be armed Bengalees after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic March 7 speech.
Mahmud came up with the remarks as the chief guest while he was delivering his speech at a discussion program at the Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club on the eve of the historic March 7.
Organized by Chattogram (North) District Awami League, Shamsul Haque, essay writer, and researcher on Liberation War Affair spoke on the occasion.
“Bangabandhu in his milestone speech told people of the then East Pakistan to be prepared with what they have. They have to face off the enemies. Basically, the armless Bengalees transformed armed Bengalees after Bangabandhu’s epic speech,” Hasan Mahmud said.
“Bangabandhu’s speech was such a speech after which those who had sticks came out of it, those who had choppers, knives, and licensed pistols came out of it. Still, people are delighted after hearing the speech. Naturally, none can deliver such a speech in world history,” Mahmud told in his speech.
“Bangabandhu had no note in his speech. He delivered it at a stretch. There are so many meaningful speeches in the world but Bangabandhu was able to transform an armless community into an armed community by his emotional and rabble-rousing speech. Naturally, he declared the Independence of Bangladesh,” he added.
Quoting the report of the Pakistan Intelligence Agency after Bangabandhu’s speech, the Information Minister said astute Sheikh Mujib, in fact, declared the independence of East Pakistan. But they can’t even make any direct charge against him for declaring Independence.
Bangabandhu said in such a way this time the struggle is for our liberation, this time the struggle is for our freedom. He delighted Journalists and young people with his speech. Still, people stood still after hearing the speech for which it’s a rare speech in world history.”
Bangabandhu’s unparalleled and unique speech got recognition from the United Nations as a part of the world’s documentary heritage.
Informing about huge propaganda on social media platforms, Dr. Mahmud suggested party activists to circulate more news of the development and achievement of the government.
“It’s better to circulate the news of the development and achievement of the government against propaganda rather than shouting slogans and uploading pictures on Facebook. The party activists who played an active role against the propaganda will be evaluated by the party,” he added.
