If the farmers survive, the country will survive. Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh has been giving paddy to the poor farmers for the last 15 days. From Friday morning till afternoon, Farcha and Sajib Dhali, sharecroppers of Dhamail village of the upazila, cut and threshed 104 percent of the land and handed it over to the farmer's house.
Convener of Upazila Schhosebak League Aurang Helal, joint non-convener Ferdous Ahme Khan and Rubayet Bappi along with more than 50 leaders and activists participated in the cutting and threshing of paddy.
Earlier, the BCL had cut the paddy of Md. Jalal Miah (60), a helpless farmer of Raghaichati village in Saltia Union of the upazila, from morning to afternoon on Thursday.
Under the leadership of Upazila BCL President Mehedi Hasan Sanil and General Secretary Shariful Islam Mandal, more than 100 BCL leaders and activists, including BCL President Shakib Md. Siam and General Secretary, participated in the paddy harvesting work.
Badal Mia, Helal Uddin and Abul Kalam, the poorest farmers of Bakhura village in Yashar union of the upazila, told this correspondent that they were not able to thresh paddy with extreme financial wages due to the lockdown.
In this situation, local leaders and activists led by Union Awami League president Matiur Rahman reached my house in Dhanket. I am forever grateful to them. Local MP Fahmi Golandaj Babel is sharing pictures of paddy harvesting and threshing every day from his Facebook ID as well as thanking the leaders and workers.
This is increasing the enthusiasm of the leaders and workers are joining in groups to cut paddy. MP Babel also said that he would help the farmers till the end of paddy threshing.
