Age limit to be revised after more vaccines available
The government will continue the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign until June-July, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said on Wednesday.
He also said that the age limit will be revised once more vaccines are available.
His remarks came following a meeting on the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination campaign at his office in the Secretariat.
According to the National Covid-19 Vaccine Deployment Plan, a total of 1.5 crore people will be inoculated in the first phase.
The minister informed that Bangladesh will get around 1.09 crore Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine under the COVAX facility by May this year.
In total, Bangladesh will receive four crore doses of vaccine from COVAX. He also said that teachers and the students will be inoculated soon.
The private sector will be allowed to import and sell Covid-19 vaccine in the domestic market, but the government will continue providing vaccines to the people for free.
Foreigners will also get vaccines from the government as per the list of the ministry of foreign affairs, he added.
