July genocide to be trialed at International Crimes Tribunal: Law Advisor

Interim Government's Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Dr Asif Nazrul says the July genocide trial will be done at the International Crimes Tribunal.

He stated this during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday (August 14).

According to Dr Asif Nazrul, the July Genocide can be tried at the International Criminal Tribunal.' The government decided it.

He also said, 'The case is on, the trial of genocide and shooting will be done one after another. It will be investigated whether it can be judged as a crime against humanity. The investigation will be under the supervision of the United Nations.'

Asif Nazrul further said, 'Initiatives were taken to withdraw false and harassing cases across the country within three days. But it was not possible to do that because there was no police force. Now the police have joined, hopefully, all those cases will be withdrawn by August 31. The Dhaka city case will be withdrawn by Thursday.

The cases of journalists Rozina Islam and Mahmudur Rahman Manna will be withdrawn. Discrimination is omnipresent. Any discrimination based on religion, based on politics, will be eliminated.'
