Biden’s special delegation reaches Dhaka

United States President Joe Biden’s special delegation arrived in Dhaka on a four-day official visit. The delegation is led by Special Representative for International Labour Affairs Kelly M. Fay Rodríguez and Deputy Under Secretary Thea Lee for the Department of Labour.

They reached Dhaka on Friday (November 22) morning and held a meeting with the labour organization Solidarity Center regarding the working environment and the workers' details.


Joe Biden’s special delegation will meet the International Labour Organization (ILO) this afternoon. Besides, there is a meeting with each side of the government.


It is learned that the delegation will meet officials of the Interim Government, private-sector garment manufacturers, and trade union stakeholders. 


The delegation will meet the representatives of American companies investing in the garment sector and global labour experts to discuss how best to support Bangladesh’s economy, democracy, and workers.
