7 crude bombs found in Companiganj

Police have recovered seven crude bombs and a number of local weapons from the Rupali Square area in Basurhat of Noakhali's Companiganj Upazila.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mir Zahidul Haque Rony confirmed the matter and said the crude bombs and weapons were recovered in a special operation.

"However, it was not possible to arrest anyone at that time. The operation to recover the weapons and arrest the accused is continuing," he said.

Companiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Jyoti Khisa has confirmed that Mizanur Rahman Badal, who was arrested on Thursday, has been sent to Noakhali Judicial Court in connection with the case of the attack on police at Chaprashirhat East Bazar.

Earlier, the Detective Branch of police had arrested Awami League (AL) leader Badal, the rival of Abdul Quader Mirza, from Noakhali Press Club over a clash between two factions of the ruling party.

Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcers have been deployed in the Basurhat municipality area in the wake of the clash on Tuesday.

The clash between supporters of Quader Mirza and other Awami League activists in Noakhali's Companiganj Upazila left one person dead and more than 30 others injured, many with gunshot wounds.
