57 BNP men sued over Chattogram clash


Police filed the cases with Kotwali Police Station on Monday night

Two cases have been filed against 57 BNP leaders and activists in connection with Monday's clash between BNP activists and police in the Chattogram city's Kazir Deuri area.

Police filed the cases with Kotwali Police Station on Monday night, Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge of the police station confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.

Some 57 BNP men including city unit convener Shahadat Hossain, joint convener Abu Sufian, member secretary Abul Kashem Bakkar and city unit Mahila Dal president Monowara Hossain, have been named in the cases.

Besides, some 60 unnamed people made accused in the cases.

So far, 17 people were arrested in connection with the case on Monday.

The clash broke out around 3:30 pm yesterday. Five policemen were injured in front of the BNP office in Kazir Deuri, as brickbats were hurled at them when they were on-duty.
