51 crore rupees were stolen by the employees of the postal department.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that the employees of the postal department have stolen a total of Tk 51 crore from the customer's money and postal's own funds.
He gave this information in a workshop at a hotel in Gulshan of the capital on Wednesday (June 26).
The state minister said that not only Tk 2 lakh of Parul Begum of Rajshahi's Tanore was embezzled, but the employees of the postal department also embezzled Tk 51 crore from the customer's money and the post office's own funds.
He said that 11 such irregularities have been found. So ACC has been written to take action against them.
Incidentally, recently there was an allegation of embezzlement of Tk 2 lakh deposited by a woman named Parul Begum in the family savings account at Tano Upazila Post Office in Rajshahi. This complaint was made against Postmaster Mohammad Moqsed Ali. In this incident, the victim tried to commit suicide as she did not get the money back.
After this incident, the State Minister for Postal Telecommunication and Information Technology took the initiative to conduct miking in various upazilas including Tanor to find out whether any customer has been cheated or not. In this, only in Tano Upazila, 51 more customers have complained that they have been cheated.
After that, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has taken the initiative to lease cars and land to stop the irregularities and to avoid the loss of 700 crore rupees of the postal department in a year. It is said that 20 institutions have responded.
