‘My action was misrepresented for clout’

A video of Nazifa Tushi, who has received widespread praise for her portrayal of 'Gulti' in the Mejbaur Rahman Sumon directorial film "Hawa", was released on social media recently, resulting in the actress getting caught up in controversy.

Following the release of the video, the actress was accused of being disrespectful towards other productions and their work. This was because, in the video, the actress had wanted to stand in front of the poster of her film, "Hawa", while giving an interview.

Tushi reached out to The Daily Star to clarify the story. According to the artiste, she was waiting outside a cinema hall in the capital while promoting her film. She was approached by a group of journalists for an interview just before entering the hall.

"First, they stopped me when I was walking by the poster of 'Din -The Day'. I requested them to let me stand in front of 'Hawa's' poster as I will be talking about my production," said Tushi.

"As I started walking towards the poster of 'Hawa', someone moved the poster of 'Poran' and placed it at a distance so that the framing of the camera looks better," she added.

A video, only projecting the part where Tushi says that she will stand by the poster of "Hawa" while giving the interview, was released. While the context of the action was not put forward in the video, many misjudged her action.

Comments started pouring in the video's comment section. While some took the instance to be normal, others brutally criticised Tushi, calling her "arrogant", "rude" and "self centered".

"I never meant to be disrespectful to anyone, nor did I demean others. I am always here to promote good work, be it by me or others. However, I was supposed to speak about my film and that's why I thought standing by its poster would make more sense. However, my action was misrepresented just for clout," mentioned Tushi.
